WATCH: Kurt Angle announces huge Wrestlemania match featuring Ronda Rousey, Triple H at Monday Night RAW
It's official! Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey got her first Wrestlemania match, the announcement of which was made by Monday Night Raw general manager Kurt Angle at Sky Sports Arena. 'Rowdy' Rousey will team up with former Olympian Kurt against Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon in a mixed-tag match at Wrestlemania 34 slated to be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana on April 8.
Stephanie, on Monday, in conversation with Rousey inside the ring, reminded her, "We gave you your dream opportunity, the one thing that you have wanted your entire life, to be part of Wrestlemania. We are giving you your debut match at the grandest stage of them all - Wrestlemania." Thanking the Chief Brand Officer of WWE, Rousey clarified that based on her contract she does get to choose her opponent for Wrestlemania. And after a short drumroll, on request of Stephanie, Rousey chose her as loud cheers from the crowd erupted.
Triple H soon stepped in to remind Rousey and Kurt (who was also present inside the ring) about Stephanie's role in WWE as per contract. And Kurt added to it that she and Triple H both have a second contract - as WWE Superstars and since the former Olympic champion has the right to announce matches for Wrestlemania, he made the big reveal. "At Wrestlemania, it's gonna be Triple H and Stephanie McMahon against Ronda Rousey and me," said Kurt.
Stephanie immediately went in to slap Kurt, but Ronda intervened and a short preview of their Wrestlemania battle was witnessed. While Kurt injured Triple H with his famous Angle Lock, Rousey capped off the segment with her Samoan drop of Stephanie.
Rousey had made her maiden WWE appearance as a performer at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view in January. And with the contract urging her appearance in every episode of RAWuntill Wrestlemania, fans can surely expect more of such action.
